A Year In Review - Looking back at 2022

A detailed map of our travels

Check out our detailed map of our travels this year

2022, what a year! The year that we started our lives as liveaboards, and HOMES became ours! We learned all about our new boat/home and learned to sail, NOT RACE, a catamaran in the Caribbean.

January marked our first trip to Puerto Rico. We first laid eyes on future HOMES at the survey. After flying back to Michigan, we then started the long process of packing up our lives. We also had to say goodbye to our plant babies. 🙁

February was when we FINALLY closed on the boat! It was quite the lengthy ordeal, which we detailed in this post. We also started our trip along the Southern Coast of PR and more specifically Coffin Island!

March After we left mainland PR, we sailed to Vieques which was fantastic! We wrote a post about the wonderful island which again is COMING SOON!

After leaving Vieques we made our way to the USVI, specifically St. Croix where Jon’s parents visited us. We had a fantastic time and made some new friends. We then made our way to St. John and St. Thomas respectively. Stay tuned for more details!

April brought Jon’s birthday and more adventures. After a quick stopover in Saba Island we made our way to Culebra and the small island of Culebrita. We finished out this month in San Juan which was awesome!

May We started making our way North and left Puerto Rico for the Bahamas with an unscheduled stop in the Dominican Republic.  We spent all this month exploring a few of the hundreds of islands in the Bahamas. Post incoming.

June started with our longest passage yet! 4 and a half days from the Bahamas to Morehead City, North Carolina. We ended up meeting some wonderful humans via VHF en route to Norfolk, VA. We loved them so much we ended up staying MUCH longer than anticipated. We flew back to MI to finish up packing our lives, work a bit and most importantly, reunite with family and friends!

July brought sailing races! Jon competes in the famous BYC Mackinac Race and the CYC Mackinac race every year that he can. Meanwhile, I was working and spending some quality time with some friends and family!

In August we went on a trip to DisneyWorld and our first cruise on the Disney Wish! We had an absolutely wonderful time! Vow renewals and time with family is everything we could’ve asked for! We even got to puppy sit, one of our favorite pastimes!

September We were able to celebrate Labor Day with my family which is always something to look forward too! We took a trip back to HOMES with a car full of stuff and visited some friends.

October We came back HOMES to move her further North and go to the Annapolis Boat Show with one of our friends Tim! We visited our friends in Philly and spent time exploring the awesome city of Annapolis!

November We moved HOMES to Baltimore where we plan to winter. Does it come as a surprise to anyone that we made friends within 5 minutes of arrival? With one of our new friends, we took a hike at SugarLoaf Mountain. Driving back to MI for the last time this year, we spent time with friends and family.

December opened with my birthday which we celebrated by watching Hamilton LIVE for the first time at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit! More time was spent with friends and family and the FINAL move onto the boat! We prepped for the bomb cyclone and celebrated our first Christmas on HOMES!

And that concludes our year in review! One of our biggest years to date, here’s hoping next year is even better! Cheers!!
